The BIG Holiday is coming up next month. December will always be a really big month for the Philippines in terms of celebration and retail therapy. Both activities means shelling out a lot of cash. I don't have the most lucrative job and the world. I'm practically just a shade bit better off than when I still got an allowance. Of course, I earn my own money now. But that also means that I have twice the amount of expenses.
Time to get out the Scrooge out of us, while our good ole party selves lay in wait for the first celebration of the year! Follow the jump for tips on getting financially ready for the Holiday Months...

SAVE YOUR NOVEMBER - There are two paydays left until the December month. I suppose when I post this, you're still living off the October salary. Start saving your salary early. If you can:
1) Live off the first salary of November for the rest of that month and half of December.
2) Use the second salary of November and first salary of December for Christmas shopping!
3) Use the second salary of December for parties! (new dress or new shoes, and taxi fare when you can't be bothered to take public transportation because of being too drunk, lazy, etc.)

START SHOPPING NOW! It pays to be an early Christmas shopper. Malls would always have a sale in November. Usually, Christmas Bazaars start to spring up around this time.
1) Make a list! It pays to be organized when shopping - it saves time and money.
2) Divide receivers into Big Ticket and Small Ticket. Big Ticket are people you are close to and someone you'd like to give a special pricey gift. Small Ticket can be acquaintances (officemates) to random kids who knock on your doors on Christmas morning. It can be tricky to divide your list. Remember that it would all depend on you.

3) Inaanak should go into Small Ticket list! I'll tell you why below...
SMALL TICKET SHOPPING = BUYING IN BULK! It's a shopping rule that it is way cheaper to buy in bulk. Knowing and working with this fact is the best way to shop economically for Christmas.
1) Choose a unisex, one size fits all and good age range (e.g. 12 to 18, 20 to 25) item.

2) Try to stay within or below budget per group.
3) BIGGEST TIP OF ALL - Get Mugs/tumblers/your choice of drinking vessel! Or dining items! This is the new face towel present!
Example of small ticket items:
a. Kids [ages 3 to 12] - maybe smallish tumblers that has a unisex design

b. Teens [13 to 18] - good sized tumblers! Sporty to clean design is good.
c. Officemates - coffee mugs
d. Tita/Tito - coffee mugs, darker colors
e. Random kids (who knows) - candies!
BIG TICKET SHOPPING! Make sure that you think about what you're going to get. It's also really popular to gift "experiences" rather than things nowadays. And I'm only too glad for it. Check out the coupon shopping website (such as https://dealgrocer.com). They offer awesome discounts on buffet meals or hotel stay. This might not last like a pretty watch would, but the experience is everlasting. There's nothing like good bonding time to strengthen a relationship.
Happy Shopping, girls! X, Pau
