CARMEX Original Lip Balm
EOS Evolution of Smooth Lip Balm in Strawberry
Michigan gets pretty cold. But I didn't realize the toll it took on my skin, especially my lips.
My friend had warned me about letting the heater stay on overnight at a high temperature.
It was pretty bad when I came into Ann Arbor, compelling me to keep my heater at 80 degrees.
The next morning, my lips was chapped like the desert.
It was impossible to put lipstick on, making me look quite dead without it.
I vowed never to let that happen again.
So, I turned my heater off before bed and hid under the many layers of blankets.
I also acquired necessary lip products to keep my lips hydrated.
VASELINE 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly Original Sun Protectant
Petroleum Jelly had been my go-to lip conditioner since the time I started caring about how my lips looked (see post here).
Every since I can remember, chapped lips had always been a problem. My usual remedy was AVON Lip Balm, and recently, Maybelline Baby Lips (see post here).
The balms sustained the hydration but I used the petroleum jelly to get rid of the dead skin, via my DIY Lip Scrub.
Now that my chapped lips have gone, I lather VASELINE thickly on my lips before and after I shower and brushing.
This makes sure that my lips aren't affected by the warm water, strong chemicals from products, etc.
CARMEX Original Lip Balm was given to me by my aunt who lives in California.
I lathered this on my lips but the results weren't quick enough (it wasn't over night).
I love it for the minty feel it gives but it's pretty slow-acting.
I use this before I go to bed and when I wake up. This is a bedside table staple and usually sits on top of the book I'm currently reading.
Mind that it smells pretty strong of mint all around. It bother's me a bit since mint isn't my favorite scent. But at least the minty taste doesn't last for long.
This also doesn't make lipstick apply smoothly. It's acts like a barrier between your lips and the product. So, anything tinted just slides on - and off - your lips.
Because my CARMEX doesn't work under lip products, I use another product that I could apply under my lipstick and is nice enough for application through out the day (e.g. after I eat/drink).
EOS Evolution of Smooth Lip Balm is pretty big in the beauty world... for a good reason!
Not only does it come in cute packaging (I'm totally into that whole egg thing), but it also works really well as a balm.
It keeps my lips smooth and hydrated for a good few hours. Like all balms, it needs to be reapplied.
But I find that it looks fine on top of whatever product was left on my lips.
I suspect that it would work well on top of those long-lasting, and drying, lipstick. Those are the kinds that comes with its own balm.
Sometimes, those balms aren't made very well for hydration (more for shine, etc.). I would recommend the EOS lip balm instead.
In fact, I like it so much that I got a back-up the last time I was at Meijer's.
This is the orange one in the summer fruit flavor.
Mind that the EOS lip balm does taste sweet (at least the strawberry flavored one does).
It would also smell like whichever fruit flavor it is.
I picked the strawberry for the color and the summer fruit because it was the last one of the kind (I am thinking that a lot of people like this flavor).
I know it looks like a lot of products just for the lips.
But I haven't had this problem for such a long time (not since high school when I started religiously using lip balm).
My lips are my most favorite facial feature so I want to take care of it as much as I can.
Besides, nobody likes chapped lips!
