Hey everyone! I thought I'd share my Birthday with you :)
Let's go back in time to last April...
Let's go back in time to last April...
Although my birthday was last April (see my birthday blog post and meet my cat here),
I wasn't really around blogger until after I got back from the field (see that post here).
But hey, better late that never :P
I've always wanted to try out VIKINGS Luxury Buffet.
I keep seeing the long lines at The Block, SM North EDSA branch.
If this many people are willing to wait in line for an hour, then this place could only be good!
I was leaving for the field a few days after my birthday, so I couldn't leave the city.
Unfortunately, my family can't travel to the city as well.
To make up for my lonesome birthday, my mom decided to treat me and/or a friend to VIKINGS Luxury Buffet - YAY!
TIP:
If you want to spend your birthday at VIKINGS, you're in LUCK!
They have a birthday promo where the birthday girl/boy can go in for free granted s/he comes with one full-paying adult.
It's P900++ per head on a weekday, and more for weekends and holidays.
That's a lot of savings!!!
NOTE: You have to go on your actual birthday or else it's no-go.
Bring an ID that shows your birthday!
HOW TO SCORE A TABLE:
I've seen the lines and wasn't willing to wait more than 30mins for a seat (and it's still a 50-50 chance you'll get in).
1) Call VIKINGS about a week BEFORE the day to RESERVE a spot for you.
Search their website for the landline for the branch you're going to.
You can do that through their website (website), which also has instructions on reservations.
The ladies at the Vikings Reservation Desks are really nice :)
2) Arrive 30 mins before your scheduled time.
Why? Because you won't be the only one scheduled for that time.
That becomes first come-first serve for all of you.
3) Go directly to the people in charge of booking!
If you just wait around without informing Vikings, they will think you haven't shown up.
You will be given a reservation number.
4) When the time comes and names are already called, make sure to stand in front.
If they called a number three times but no one comes forward,
they will immediately move on to the next number.
If you don't have a reservation, you are free to wait in line.
But that's a more competitive first come-first served.
You will need to inform Vikings that you are in line for a table,
and they will give you a number noting the time you've arrived.
See what happened to me :)
Luckily, I had stuff to do at SM North and was at Vikings 30 mins before my reservation.
The picture above might be a bit random but NO - they're all in line for Vikings.
I thought I'd let Vikings know that we had a reservation and I got a number.
I had no idea that even reservations get a number!
We had nothing to do but wait.
So, here's a few selfies :)
I was wearing my barely-there "natural" look (see post here).
My lips are super chapped here :P
Our reservation was for 5:30pm, which is when dinner service starts.
Look at the throng of people waiting to be called!
This is in front of the entrance into the restaurant.
You will be escorted by one of the many waiters to your table.
Inform the waiter that you're doing the birthday promo - important!
Our table was perfect!
This table has a mere divider between you and the fish!
Salmon baby!
And, to the right, you have the pasta - yum!
This is why it's important that you tell them that it's your birthday.
They give you a special birthday cake :)
I got mine early and ate it all up immediately!
Try not to do that...
Because it's part of the props for their Happy Birthday Song!
You get to wear a Viking helmet and have a huge banner behind you while a trio sings you a song :)
Since I ate my cake, they were kind enough to give me another one :)
If you want to see what nail polish I'm wearing here.
We stayed there from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm.
We tried our best to stay until closing (10:00 pm) but we were so full.
I love the food and drinks.
It was a wonderful birthday and I cannot wait to spend my next birthday at VIKINGS SM North next year!!!
xo,
Pau
