WARNING: YOUTUBE VIDS HEAVY!
This blog had been originally intended to support my youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/TheIslandGirl018). Unfortunately, I don't have a camera to film with anymore so I had to stop posting vids. The account is still active and I would love for you to come visit (Thanks, in advance!).
Watching beauty vids on YouTube had proven to be so inspiring for me. In fact, whenever I get a little down, watching a beauty vid never fails to cheer me up (with a warm mug of coffee)!
If you've had a less than happy day, why don't you try watching the vids from my fave YouTube Beauty Gurus listed after the jump...
Here are my top YouTube Beauty Guru Favorites! (In no particular order)
MICHELLE PHAN
♥ youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/MichellePhan
♥ website : http://www.michellephan.com/
Michelle Phan is a pioneer when it comes to YouTube beauty vids. After her humble beginnings of filming on her Mac laptop, she has seen great success in the beauty industry by representing L'ancome, having her own channel (FAWN), and creating her own jewellery line called Forever Eden.
ELLE FOLWER
♥ youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/allthatglitters21; http://www.youtube.com/ellesglittergossip
♥ website : http://www.elleandblair.com
This girl is probably one of my most watched beauty gurus on YouTube! Despite a lot of criticism, she and her sister's, Blair below, career has continued to blossom. She even got to move to Los Angeles, California. I love how happy she is in her videos. Her mood just hypnotizes me whenever I watch her. She is also quite articulate and I love her reviews. Plus, she's somewhat of an organization-freak. Those videos make me clean my house, and my housemate is ever so thankful!
BLAIR FOWLER
♥ youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/juicystar07; http://www.youtube.com/otherjuicystar07
♥ website : http://www.elleandblair.com
I actually found Blair first, and through her channel, I was able to find Elle. I'm sorry to admit this but I seem to gravitate more to Elle than Blair. It may be because Blair is aimed for the younger girls as she is a few years younger than Elle. Her interests are for the younger set (think, highschool). But that doesn't mean that Blair has less interesting videos. In fact, Blair has significantly more subscribers than Elle. Blair has such a charming on screen presence. She is absolutely adorable and has so much energy in her vids. Whenever I feel like I will have a long day, I tend to watch her vids just so I could maybe have a little bit of that energy.
INGRID
♥ youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/missglamorazzi
Ingrid is half-Thai and half-American. She has a very quirky personality and her style is the most like mine. She a gamer as well, although not as much as Michelle Phan. Of all mentioned, I would probably get her recommendations the most. It's mostly because her skin type is similar to mine (oily T-zone). I found Ingrid when I was trying to find reviews on Asian (well, Japanese) products on YouTube. Thankfully, Ingrid is eager to try Asian products and frequents Asian stores in L.A. to get her daily dose of it. Plus, who won't love her bold choices of color!
RAE
♥ youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/RAEview
♥ website : http://www.elleandblair.com
Rae is a Korean-American cutie who is the most articulate beauty guru on my list. She is my go-to beauty guru for high-end products. Although I could never really get any of the products she mentions (except for the lower end products), I love to watch her vids nonetheless. She tries to keep updated with the most recent releases, which I do give her props for as she buys them on her own. Rae can also diss on the products and I love her for it. I keep tabs on what she says so if I ever get enough to buy a high-end product, I know which to buy.
There are so many more wonderful beauty channels on YouTube. I never think that these girls are just doing it to show off. In fact, I find these girls very informative as I don't have the cash nor the time to go out and buy everything out there. I am thankful that there are girls out there who share their time, skills and money to inform us of what is out there. I learned a lot about fashion and make-up application skills from them!
Remember that beauty and fashion is a million dollar industry. So many people earn from it. And even if these girls earn from doing videos, it is not something to frown upon. Knowledge is power. And advertising is money. This is free or cheap advertising, folks. If Nicole Kidman can earn millions for being the face of Chanel No.5 (which I love), why not these girls? They should earn much more, I think. So, don't be dissuaded from watching their vids just because it's sponsored. Rest assured, that all their opinions are truthful. No beauty girl would stake their reputation (and skin and style), just for money. That is not the creed that beauty girl go by.
Watch these vids now! And don't forget to subscribe! X, Pau.
