Like a lot of people, I find staying positive and happy a little challenging in the high-stress environment we live in.
No worries, though. There are a few things that you can do at an everyday basis to perk up your dreary week-days.
☺ FOLLOW THE JUMP TO SEE THE 5 THINGS TO ADD TO YOUR TO-DO LIST FOR A HAPPIER YOU! ☺
1) HUGS
This is one of those simple gestures that makes such a big difference.
Hugs bring you joy as it helps you feel approval and acceptance.
Close contact with another being makes you feel loved and at the same time, you feel that you are giving love.
☺
2) SAY PLEASE AND THANK YOU
Say them with a smile and watch them work their magic.
Try saying this to the maintenance staff or security guards of your office.
Everyone wants to be appreciated for their hard work.
It is always such a wonderful thing to see someone smile back.
Of course, being polite is always classy.
☺
3) TAKE A BREAK
Trying to beat a deadline? There is always time for a break.
It doesn't matter what you do. You can make coffee, refill your water bottle, browse social media sites.
Taking a break is necessary to get your head together. Take a short moment to relax, step back and analyze the situation.
You can space out your break time through out your day. I find that as the day gets busier, I take shorter breaks with shorter intervals.
This is a must if you are working with a team. If you don't calm yourself down, it could lead to an outburst of feelings :P
☺
4) REWARD YOURSELF
It doesn't have to be an expensive handbag every end of the week (or day).
There are plenty of little items out there that can range from comfort food to nail art.
If you're like me who struggles with delayed gratification, it's important to feel accomplished at the end of the day.
Most days will not be like this. You cannot always find it with someone else.
So, to be safe, just give yourself your own reward.
Besides, no one else knows how truly great you are but yourself.
(Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!)
☺
5) EXERCISE
I will never forget Elle Woods in Legally Blonde saying that endorphins are happy hormones.
This is so true. This is why a lot of people go for walks to clear their head.
Not only do they get some alone time to think about the situation, but it also gives endorphins to make you calmer.
It doesn't have to be a full gym work-out. Just a bit of stretching or climbing up the stairs is good enough. Anything to keep your heart going!
☺
Add that to your to-do list and see the difference!
☺
x, Pau
