I have been actively expanding my brush collection --- like a crazy person!
Come see my new kabuki brush :)
I went on a brush shopping spree a bit before summer started.
You should expect more brush posts like this one.

Where to get good yet affordable brushes?
LANDMARK, TRINOMA
LANDMARK, TRINOMA
There's a whole section of brushes from Artist Studio and others.
They are all less than P300 for sure. The face brushes can go for P200-ish or less.
I was on a hunt for a small kabuki brush. The one I was using was not really a kabuki but a huge face brush that had its handle fall off not too long ago.
That was a bit stiff and I thought I could use a NICE and true kabuki.
There's a good selection of kabuki brushes there but this one stole my heart because of...
CUTE PACKAGING! LOLz
This is the perfect brush size for me. Small brushes can really get into the contours of the face.
I find larger brushes a bit intimidating :P
Again, do check the bristles before you get out of the store.
I'm not saying every brush is blotched (glue leaking, etc.).
But it's better to be safe than sorry - not to mention the hassle of going back to the mall to get it replaced (which they should happily do for you, don't forget the receipt).
The NOCONI Kabuki Brush has wonderfully soft bristles. Dense but soft, just like a good kabuki brush should.
There are kabuki brushes that are much softer than this, but I prefer my face brushes to be on the dense side.
I feel like this allows for the product to be deposited on to my skin better.
Plus, it does well for buffing.
If blending is what you're in for, better use a softer brush.
I already have a super soft brush from Nichido (face brush) that does the job of taking excess product off my face.
As you can tell, I couldn't wait to get into this.
I've used it once to set my foundation with a loose powder finish (Fashion 21 Loose Powder).
The trick is to bounce the kabuki on your skin to set your foundation.

After picking up the product with your brush, concentrate on the t-zone as well as the under-eye area (if you're not using a separate product to set your concealer).
At first, your skin will look so matte and in danger of cake-ing.
Wait for the product to settle, then lightly buff your face.
This will take any excess product off.
I highly recommend this mini kabuki brush!
The only down-side is travelling with this baby.
The box it comes with is too bulky and just chucking it into you bag might damage the hair.
Best to get a little baggie for this or place it in a safe and separate compartment.
