LOL BRONZING POWDER in 02 BROWN SUGAR (matte)
8g - less than P150 (lost receipt in black hole backpack)
WATSONS, SM NORTH MAIN BUILDING 2nd FLOOR
LOL (Lots of Love) offers the most affordable makeup products in the market.
Selected WATSONS stores have stocked up on LOL products. By that, I mean that there's only one WATSONS store in the entire SM North EDSA that carries these.
They might also be available for purchase from the SM Department store itself.
But, who wants to join the stampeding mob and long lines at counters in SM Dept?
The packaging is box-y, plastic, and somewhat durable.
I don't mind the packaging. It pleases a lot of girls who go for the minimalist packaging.
It actually looks expensive from afar!
And, thankfully, all its parts work. For example, the lid isn't wobbly and could stay upright, bend all the way down, etc.
I have been eyeing this specific product for a while now.
When they came out, this was the ONLY affordable bronzer in the market.
Actually, it might STILL be the most affordable bronzer in the market.
That's on thing: I don't understand why local makeup companies just don't come out with decent bronzers. (Ever Bilena, Nichido, Careline, Fashion 21!!!!)
PROS:
Lightweight Decent Packaging
I appreciate the huge flat surface. Makes it easier to be picked up by a brush.
CHEAP
Oh yeah!
NO HARSH SMELL
Although it doesn't smell like brown sugar, it doesn't have a harsh or strong scent.
CONS:
EXTREMELY LIMITED COLOR SELECTION
If I remember correctly, it's this and a shimmery one.
ORANGE, ORANGE, ORANGE
This can look too orange with my complexion.
As I've mentioned before (here), this doesn't work with heavy sculpting. But it works decent enough as a bronzer, where you just need to add a bit of color at the right places (to avoid MUKHANG PLATO).
HARD TO FIND
Seriously, one WATSONS store from the many WATSONS in SM North EDSA.
It's like 4u2 DREAM GIRL Love Pink products all over again.
I apply this bronzing powder using my Ever Bilena face brush.
The similarity of this brush and this bronzer is uncanny: match made in heaven?
Why this brush: a rounded end and semi-flat sides.
The semi-flat side picks up the product and the rounded end is used for blending.
HOW TO APPLY:
STEP 1: Lay the sides of the brush flat on the product.
Use the side of the brush to pick up the product, not the ends.
The ends should be kept clean for blending.
NO SWIRLING!
STEP 2: Make a fish face and apply the product *just* under the cheekbone.
You make a fish face by sucking in your cheeks.
My cheeks are particularly chubby so I make extra effort. I actually look weirder than this but that's too funny for this blog. LOL
The bronzer needs to sit UNDER your cheekbones. You are creating the shadow created by pronounced cheekbones.
Even if you don't have pronounced/high cheekbones, this technique will give you that feature.
STEP 3: Pat some of the product on your temples and (not shown) sweep what's left on your jawline.
The bronzer on the temple would lift the central line of your face.
You know how foundation (especially full coverage ones) erases facial features/contour making your face a blank canvas?
If you leave it like that, it'll make your face look flat (MUKHANG PLATO).
That looks weird and unattractive in my book.
STEP 4: BLEND LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!
In the picture on STEP 3, the bronzer looks muddy and unnatural on my cheeks (as it would on my temples).
This is where the rounded end of the brush comes in.
Blend the bronzer on your cheeks, temples, hairline and jawline.
Blending ends when the bronzer looks natural.
This will also take care of problematic hairline. Foundations can look harsh as it meets the hairline, especially with jet-black hair.
The bronzer makes the transition from skin to hair more natural.
TIP:
This will take forever at first.
There will be hits and misses as you get used to it.
Practice makes perfect in this case.
xo, Pau
