We've all heard of the new DISNEY PRINCESS look that had been released some time ago that had hard core Disney Princess fans at an uproar. It's understandable that fans would have this reaction to the re-vamp/make-over. The princesses served as role models for me when I was growing up. Being emotionally attached to our dear princess, it's hard to see them change at all. It's as if our whole childhoods are changing.
But this post is not about the negative reaction towards Disney's attempts at catering to the newer generation. This post is a celebration of beloved princesses. I have always seen them as cartoons. But recent technology in the hands of a talented artist, Jirka Väätäinen, let us have a peek of what our Disney Princess might be had they been real.
Jirka Väätäinen is a graphics artist who made these wonderful pictures. Currently based in Finland, he made this personal project through a combination of photo compositing and digital painting. The results are amazing.

First stop is my favorite Disney Princess, Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I love that her face is full of hope, wonder and naivety. There's something kind about her, in that, she seems like the kind of person who would be friendly and helpful.
Aurora, from Sleeping Beauty, has that trademark prominent chin just like in her cartoon version! I love the details. She looks smart and imperial. Even if she grew up in the woods, one look says: I am a princess in disguise.
I've always imagined Esmeralda, from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, as Demi Moore (who voiced her). But this is a good take on Esmeralda as well. She isn't one of my favorite characters. The picture makes her looks so mischievous, which is exactly what she is ;)
Who doesn't love Cinderella?! In fact, I like her more when she wasn't wearing her huge blue ball gown and going after the prince. I have my own take of Cinderella. I believe that she may be doing house chores, but she also has a willful side. This picture captured it perfectly. Here's Cinderella thinking of how to get to the ball even after she was told not to.
After Ariel, Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, is one of the most silently courageous princess. I can't imagine staying in a gloomy castle and dealing with a beast! I love that the picture has Belle looking unsure. It was unfortunate that the Disney movie seemed to have a lot of it in the Beast's perspective. Belle has a lot of substance too. She is presented with a lot of options. But all of them were not really what she wanted. Poor girl. I'm so glad it turned out ok.
Jasmine, from Aladdin, is the quintessential problem child. She refuses to be bossed around by a parent who really just mean well. She's a woman with her own mind. I love that Jasmine looks so mysterious in this picture. It's as if she is keeping a secret.
This is my most favorite picture of all the lot. Jane just looks so adorable.
She looks so polite LOL! She looks like the prim and proper type, straight out of finishing school! Yet, at the same time, her eyes looks like she's willing to go into an adventure... provided that there's high tea.

Mergara, from Hercules, is her natural sneaky cynical self. She reminds me a little of Adora Belle Dearheart (Going Postal and Making Money by Terry Pratchett).
Rapunzel, from Tangled, looks so sneaky. She looks like the kind of girl who's here to have lots of fun. It's as if nothing can get her down. She reminds me of Rebel Wilson.
Pocahontas looks a little bit like Tia Carrere. She has the same kind of facial structure.
I love that Mulan seems to be forcing a smile on LOL! It reminds me of one of my most favorite parts of the movie, the one where they sing "Honor to us All".
Tia, from Princess and the Frog, is the most faithful to her cartoon look. Don't you just love her eyebrows?
Although Tia is the most faithful, Snow White is the... fairest one of all. Her face looks so innocent and pure. I can totally understand why her stepmother was so jealous.
Alice, from Alice in Wonderland, has a face full of wonder. She looks like she's a little bit unsure what's going on. And this is exactly what face she should have when in Wonderland LOL
Last, we have Tinkerbell, from Peter Pan. I love her look here. Her eyes say it all! She is truly Peter Pan's soul mate.
