It has been many months since I last had a decent post (my poupee post does not really count). I would like to say that I went on some great adventure... Unfortunately, although life has been busy, it's not a post-worthy adventure. I had some life changing decisions to make and have been very busy trying to make them. Enough about that...
Here's my current favorite social media site since I went on blogger.com hiatus.
PINTEREST.COM
I'm not really into facebook.com or instagram. I do have a semi-active twitter account and I'm always on youtube.com (although I just go on there to watch videos and not to upload vids). But pinterest.com really takes the cake when in comes to SNS loving <3
They even have a new look! Follow the jump to check it out!*
*Especially if you're a bit wary of installing the change. You have to like the new look though because it will become permanent soon.
As I am still trying to get into the swing of things, I've completely forgotten to get screenshots of the "old" pinterest.com look. Grrrr.... Apologies.
Pinterest is an online pin board that works almost the same way as tumblr.com (my previous playground). You can login using your facebook account, which will update your pinterest timeline on your timeline. Or, you can choose to login using twitter. I've not tried loging through twitter so I'm not sure what it really does, I suppose it's same thing as facebook.
This is my account. You can follow me at http://pinterest.com/islandgirl018/ .
I have been a member for some time now. But I haven't been that active until lately. I was more into facebook, blogger, tumblr, or twitter. I only made 8 boards, which are like folders where you can organize your "pins" (pictures). Other active users have a lot of boards though. I'm not sure about the maximum amount of boards you can make. The "boards" feature is something that really drew me to this site. I like how I can make a folder and build on it. You can choose to have a few active boards and then the other boards can just hang there until you want to add on it again. Currently, all my boards are active. That means I pin photos on all boards regularly.
You can also "name" your boards. There are suggested names from pinterest if you're having trouble making your boards. The top boards that get the most updated on my account are: CHIC, COOLNESS, LOTS OF LOVE and INSPIRATION. As you continue to pin photos, you can choose the "cover" of your board. So that when other users check out your account, they can readily identify the general contents of the boards based on its cover photo.
Let's talk about this new pinterest.com look.
When you hover your cursor over one of the pictures, you can see the "PIN" or "LIKE" icons.
They're much more prominent now than before.
This picture showed up on my page together with all the other pins from the accounts or boards that you are following.
If you're unsure if you like or if you'd like to PIN it to one of your boards, you can click on it and a window will open for you to see the picture better.
You can't zoom in though.
I clicked on the photo and this is what the window will look like.
You can choose to PIN it or LIKE it from here as well.
Or you can share it at other social networking sites like facebook.com or twitter.com,
and/or you can email or embed it. I haven't shared anything from pinterest though.
On the left hand side, you will see the account or the board where the pin was originally from.
If you didn't like the picture afterall, you can just click the huge "X" box on the upper right hand corner of this window.
Best thing: you can readily comment at the bottom of the picture.
Now, I think this picture would be great to pin on my SUMMER 2013 board.

Another window will open where you can choose to PIN the picture or, if you change your mind, close this window and go back to the picture.
This window is part of the new pinterest.com look. The picture used to be bigger and the description is unnoticeable. I'm glad that this what they did. I like looking at the descriptions :)
Once you've decided to PIN it, like I have, it will show you a confirmation window.
This is new as well. You can choose to close this window and it'll show the picture once again.
Or you can click "SEE IT NOW" and it'll take you to your board.

You can see it on my SUMMER 2013 board! Yay!
Another new feature is this "Add a pin" box on the right.
You can now easily add a pin whenever you like with one click!
And that's my tour of pinterest.com.
See you there!
