This is the sequel of my original post: TEMPER, TEMPER - Anyare? Style!!!
Follow the jump to see more Anyare? #amalayer moments...
What is Anyare?
It is a facebook page that pokes fun at things in Filipino. Old Filipino at that! The more archaic, the better! So far, there are a few recurring characters: FACUNDO, the male house slave, FILOMENA, the female house slave, and SENYORA, the madam of the household (see above).
They encourage contributors to post their Anyare? versions of photos with Filipino and/or English texts. They even hold events such as Anyare? versions of famous movies and, the more recent one, Anyare? versions of advertisements. The boyfriend wanted to contribute but we couldn't stop ourselves laughing to get any work done.

What is #amalayer?
The girl in the viral video tagged Rude Passenger and the twitter hashtag #amalayer has spoken up. The principal characters of the video has been revealed: #amalayer is Paula Jamie Salvosa, and the female security guard is Sharon Mae Casinas. The video was posted by Paolo Llamoso (which had never been a secret. I just didn't write it down in the last post).
Ms. Salvosa has declared that she had become a victim of cyberbullying after the video of her raising her voice against a security guard went viral. In response, she had deactivated her twitter and facebook accounts. It seems that she is not enjoying her popularity. This sentiment is shared by Ms. Casinas. No worries. She was not fired, and her boss seems to be on her side.
I sympathize with Ms. Salvosa's predicament. She is young and her "image" is very important to her. Of course, I am on Ms. Casinas' side. This was her job. It doesn't pay much and the hours are grueling. But she probably doesn't have a lot of other options. Like a lot of minimum wage workers in Manila, she works this hard to support her large family back in her home town. Ms. Salvosa was having a bad day. But Ms. Casinas probably has a bad day everyday, what with concerns like where am I going to get the money to send my younger siblings to school next month.
If I was in Ms. Salvosa's shoes, I would be humiliated beyond anything. But there are bigger problems in the world. And, some of those are being faced by Ms. Casinas everyday. I'm glad that Ms. Casinas' superiors are supporting her. I hope that she doesn't get fired and/or she doesn't get suspended. Deactivating twitter and facebook accounts does not compare to delayed rent and/or pera padala.

What happens when Anyare? and #amalayer meets? (and breeds?)
▼
It seems that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
▼
There are plenty of contributions on Anyare? about #amalayer.
But this one has a lot to tell.
Senyora is a figure that represents the elite, who are viewed as evil dictators.
This is far from the truth. A true high born girl would act with grace.
They would never raise their voice, especially in public.

Of course, this is a product of a few years of finishing school.
The elite's image is almost as valuable as money.
This public display of bad behavior is frowned upon by everyone.

I first found out about the #amalayer event via the radio, in my company's shuttle.
As an ESL trainer, I though that Ms. Salvosa had the potential to become an ESL tutor.
Sadly, her writing skills does not meet company standards.
▼
Maybe, Ms. Salvosa's grammar errors come from being too emotional
while composing this tweet.
I get like this all the time.
